The Plaza de la Libertad (Liberty Square) was remodeled a few years ago with the objective of restoring its original beauty and to serve as an enhancement to the   buildings that surround it. At the center of the square there is a beautiful iron forged gazebo, a replica of the original, where some days of the week at nighttime cultural events take place. Under the square, a modern underground parking lot was built where you can park your vehicle to start your tour through the Centro Histórico de Tampico (Tampico's Historical Downtown). Here you can walk under the porches of the buildings that surround this square admiring their architecture and their iron works details, very similar to those from the City of New Orleans that speak of the blossom era of the city.
