The lighthouse near the Escolleras, was built as a result of the construction of a commercial port. Its construction by Don Porfírio Díaz to allow shipments of several products that arrived at Tampico through the railroad. On February 5th, 1883, the anniversary of the Constitution of 1857, it was inaugurated and still remains in active service. For more than a century has made a contribution for the City and Port of Tampico to become one of the best ports in Mexico.
