In your visit to Tampico you are invited to get to know the Centro Histórico where you can admire beautiful buildings from early XX century, with fine iron works very similar to those found at the City of New Orleans with Art Nouveau   and French Styles. These buildings date back to the Oil Boom at the beginning of the century and were made from imported construction materials and decorative fixings.

It is considered historical by the event occurred in 1829 when Spain, in its quest to reconquer our country, sent to this region troops commanded by the Brigadier Isidro Barradas, same that incurred in bloody battles when the Mexican Army commanded by Santa Anna and Manuel Mier y Terán opposed them, being the later the victorious army and forcing the Spaniards to sign the capitulation and later become expelled from Mexico.
