Maritime Customs Building

At the end of the Aduana street you will find the Edificio de la Aduana Marítima (Maritime Customs Building), a city landmark for being one of the most beautiful buildings of Tampico and its historical value. Its construction started in 1896 by orders of Don Porfirio Díaz who inaugurated it in October 1902.

Its design was taken from a catalog of public buildings from Europe, using imported materials from different European countries and the United States, like the red brick imported from England, the the forged iron works used in windows and aisles from France as well as the wood used in doors and windows from Louisiana, USA, and the canter rocks that comform the arches is from material obtained from the Huasteca Region.
