The Metropolitan Zone is home site for important cultural fairs and festivals of national and international levels that take place here every year and had become and important attraction for the tourist.

Only three months after New Year, the April festivities take place, they celebrate the repopulation of Tampico. A reenactment of the pioneer caravan that travel from Altamira to establish themselves in the port of Tampico is part of the festivities and during all month there is an animated popular festivity where in addition of mechanical games, artisan and cattle exhibits, every night there are several shows at the Teatro del Pueblo by famous artist.

For culture lovers, during October the Festival Internacional Tamaulipas (Tamaulipas International Festival) takes place, one of the most regarded cultural festivals of Mexico and its objective is to promote the cultural values ant the fine arts, as well as to promote diversified cultural and artistical exposures of our state, Mexico and other parts of the world.

Others events from other nations were presented with artist from more than 30 countries. Without any doubts the Tamaulipas International Festival is a first rate event, an interchange of art and culture that transforms it an unforgettable encounter, and a proud event for our State.

Another important event is the Festival Internacional "Letras del mundo en Tamaulipas" that will take place in November with the gathering of numerous and important writers from all over the world like Carlos Fuentes, Hans Magnus Enzenberger and Héctor Aguilar Camín among others.

Also during November, a popular fair takes place in the adjacent land areas of the Laguna del Carpintero, that like the one celebrated in April, offers the best amusement for the entire family.
